Hello,

I'm looking for a decent gaming laptop that runs all the latest games (at least on normal settings, if not on high) with relative ease. Basically no or negligible lag.
My budget is tight. Max $1200-$1300.
I have shortlisted the following 2 laptops:

1.LENOVO Y70 - 80DU00DSUS
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-17-3-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-1tb-8gb-hybrid-hard-drive-black/6339015.p?id=1219661389849&skuId=6339015

2. ASUS ROG G751JLDS71
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-rog-17-3-laptop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-black/6338098.p?id=1219660523280&skuId=6338098

Please take a look at the specs

Both are 17 inch, have 16gb ram, intel i7 4270hq quad core processor, both upgradable to win10
The differences:
1. Lenovo gives touchscreen (which isn't essential for me but I wouldn't mind it), asus does not
2. Lenovo has a 4gb gtx 960m graphics card which asus has a 2gb gtx 965m.

However I have read on a few sites that the 965 2gb is in some ways better than the 960 4gb.

I will be buying only from bestbuy.com
The other issue is of price
Asus costs 1250 on sale but it's actually for 1399
Lenovo costs 1199 on sale and actually costs 1299
Right now asus is on sale but lenovo isn't so asus is currently cheaper.

So please suggest to me which one to buy.
Main purpose is gaming and of course other regular work like ms office and making presentations.
I'm not into any graphic designs and animation and all that. I just want to be able to play latest games for at least 2 yrs from now.

So I guess my question is, is 965m 2gb really that much better than 960m 4gb that I give up the touchscreen?
And are Asus laptops more sturdy and durable than lenovo? In which case I wouldn't mind giving up touchscreen.

I know it's a bit too much but please help me out.

Thanks a lot!!

Hi,

I would go for the ASUS laptop with 965m graphics card based from the reviews I've read from forums. You are right when you say that 965m is better compare with 960m 4GB since it's not always good if it has more numbers. Here's a thread with reviews about those 2 graphics card that might help you choose between those 2 laptops.
