I looking to upgrade my old 47" LG LCD tv and there are some really great deals out right now. the primary use would be for watching tv, sports, movies, but not for gaming. I just saw Costco and other places marked down the 65" Samsung down from ~3300.00 to ~2000.00, which happens to be the same price as the curved LG OLED. Granted, the OLED is NOT the 4k version, that is still running around 3k for the 55" version.

I've personally seen the OLED in person and it is beautiful, but I was shooting to get a tv around 60-65", but is the Samsung worth it with the larger size and 4k over the LG OLED 1080p? Let me know what you think. Also, i will be mounting whatever tv is decided over my fireplace and the couches sit roughly 10ft away and one wall is all windows with natural light shining in.

Side note, i just noticed Costco also throws in a 200.00 cash card with the purchase of the tv. Amazon is offering 150.00 gift card with the OLED, the Samsung has no additional offerings.

Thanks!!!

There's no 4k content yet, and specs and requirements can change over night, may I ask why you are so worried about 4k?

I highly advise against mounting the TV above the fireplace, you should find a better place to put the TV.

As far as the TV's are concerned, you have to look at them in person to find out which one will suit you the best. By next year, VA TV's are going to rival OLED, so honestly, things are moving way too fast to be able to answer that question.

The LG offers better contrast and viewing angles but is 10" smaller, which means that the Samsung has got 30% more screen to look at than the LG, but poor viewing angles and lower contrast. However, personally I would never ever give up screen size for picture quality...
