Lighting strike and future tv damage

If HDMI cable is fried as well as the HDMI port and TV is otherwise OK, will the lightning strike cause a failure of the TV itself in the future?

If both the cable and port were damaged, I would assume the HDTV is also damaged. The damage just may not be apparent in what ever mode you have the HDTV in (obviously not using the damaged HDMI port as the input port).
