Limited Monitor Capabilities

Hello,
I recently purchased an AOC e2243Fw series monitor. I have hooked it up to my DELL Studio xps butit does not seem to be recognizing this specific monitor and will only give me 1600x900 resolution? It is supposed to go to 1920x1080. What do I do?
