Question Linux distros for Dell Latitude e5550

I have an old laptop, the Dell Latitude e5550, and want to replace Windows on it with a Linux GUI distro. Does anyone out there have experience with that? Did it run well? I was thinking Linux Mint, Linux Lite....

Or will Qubes work on an older laptop?

Linux Mint would be a good choice and should perform well. Ubuntu would be my second choice.
