Logitech z906 connected to Asus Rog Strix B350-F Motherboard via S/PDIF optical cable not giving the option for 5.1 output in the Realtek Supreme FX menu or in playback devices options

Would switching to the 3x3.5mm cords work?

as its connected to Optical connection then it wont give you option to chose the Audio Output Configuration if you play 5.1 Contents then the Speaker will Decode it to 5.1 and provide 5.1 output and if you play Mp3 stereo audio then only 2 front speakers are gonna work
