Looking for a gaming laptop - $2300 max budget (MSI GS60 ghost pro vs GS70 Stealth Pro)

Ok since the topic is self explanatory, I own a lenovo y50 at the moment and I want to sell it simply because I don't feel comfortable with it. Note that there is also another G60 variant for $1999, with 3K screen and 128GB M.2 Solid-State Drive, the 970m has 3GB VRAM.

I'm really confused between them,, what do u guys think ?
I would appreciate your feedback even with a different laptop that could offer equivalent/better specs for the price i'm paying, such as custmozied sagers/clevos from Xiotic.

Main concern is, nothing under gtx 970m and not exceeding the weight of 6 lbs.

literally just buy that one that has the best reviews about 'reliability' with that kind of money. i dont reccomend anything by msi but alienware seem to be nice and reliable alot more often

Between those two, I'd take the G70, because 4k screens are useless on laptops. Also more storage capacity and SSD in RAID is stupid fast.

Although you'd want to have Windows installed on both HDD and SSD as dual boot, because having three SSD's in RAID 0 effectively triples the failure rate of the SSD drive.

Don't bother with screens over 1080p

What you are saying is practically correct, if there was a huge price difference between the FHD and 3/4k I would definatley go for the FHD, but looking at the current price of both laptops I'm considering the 4k option for an extra $50.
I also probably haven't made my post clear but the G60 doesn't come equipped with a normal 256 SSD, it's actually a Super RAID 256 GB (128 GB M.2SATA SSD x 2 RAID 0).

Does that change your view on the G60 ?

so basically i have come to a conclusion that I'm getting triple RAID SSDs for $50 less in the G70, on the other hand I'm getting Doube RAID SSDs + 4k screen for an extra $50. SSDs are always upgradable so I'm not worried about the extra storage space for the meantime.

128GB SSD x3 still beats 128GB SSD x2, in both capacity and performance.

Seriously, apart from a 4k wallpaper (which you might struggle to find) I don't see any use for 4k resolution.

So it boils down to sacrificing $50 and 1/3 of the SSD speed and capacity, for a lighter laptop.

Yes absolutely, having 3 SSDs in RAID mode is a great advantage compared to having a 4k screen. Yet, the 1.5 lb difference in weight will be my last card to use for my final choice.
