1. What is your budget? $1,000-1,500 USD.

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 13"-15"

3. What screen resolution do you want? At least 1080P

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? No preference. It will mostly be used around the house though. So portability isn't a priority.

5. How much battery life do you need? 5 hours or so would be nice, but again, it will mostly be used around the house. So it isn't a huge deal.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? No gaming

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) Photo editing with Lightroom and some Photoshop. Also may do occasional video editing. Not sure with which program though as I haven't had a need to edit any videos yet. It will also be used for business, but that is mostly browser based tools and excel.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? At least 256GB SSD. I would prefer an SSD & HDD, but not mandatory.

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? 4-5 years would be ideal.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? N/A

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. No preference.

13. What country do you live in? USA

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

I would prefer a 2-in-1, but it isn't mandatory. I thought I had decided on the Acer Nitro Spin 5, but then I started questioning the reliability. I also thought that maybe I should get something with 16GB of ram. I don't know if it is needed, but I figure it would help to future-proof the laptop somewhat. Maybe I shouldn't worry about it?

The models I have found are either a Lenovo Yoga 720 with a 7th Gen i7 and gtx1050, the Yoga 730 with the 8th Gen i7 and gtx 1050, and the HP Spectre x360 15. I like the Specter with the Vega GPU, but it's out of my price range. Plus I don't know if I even need that much GPU since I won't be doing any gaming. I'm completely overwhelmed with this. My priorities are reliability and performance. As I said, I would strongly prefer a 2-in-1, but I wouldn't necessarily pass on a great regular laptop. I'm not entirely sure how much I would use the stylus anyway. Thanks in advance for any help!

A couple more to consider:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAA0S7BK0590&ignorebbr=1 (ASUS 2-in-1 flip, 16GB RAM and 1TB, 4k and even a fingerprint reader)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAE4N7EJ6018&ignorebbr=1 (not a 2 in 1 but great specs with dual drives)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAA0S72P1400&ignorebbr=1 (also not 2 in 1, but for reliability/durability a business-oriented line is a consideration even though they usually don't have 2-in-1 options. Dell Latitude is made for businesses as opposed to consumer-oriented Insprion. This has Win 10 Pro if that matters)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAA0S7U02805&ignorebbr=1 (a 2-in-1 flip Dell with 16GB, 1TB SSD)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAA0S7B63584&ignorebbr=1 (HP Probook, another business class notebook, not 2 in 1 but 16GB/1TB plus 1TB HDD and win 10 Pro)

For that budget you can easily find a great laptop that covers all your criteria. If you are still undecided after this, I would just go to a bestbuy or whatever computer store is around you and see some of them in person. Personally I'm just really picky about the layout and how my laptops feel. And it's hard to do that with pictures. The screen resolution is also something to see in person. A 4k screen vs a 1080p or whatever the lower res screens are these days will look amazingly better.

Thanks for the options SchizTech! I'll check them out.

Tejayd, I'll have to go to Best Buy and have a look around. I just wanted to get some opinions to try and narrow it a little bit. I originally wanted my budget to be up to $1k, but I want to make sure I can get something that will last, so I'm going to push the budget a little.
