Looking for a good laptop for between $600 - $800

so i recently graduated and as a graduation present my parents are buying me a new laptop, i usually can find what im looking for in a computer pretty well but i am struggling finding a laptop. I usually consider myself a pretty hard core gamer, and i know for this price range i cant expect to get a laptop that will run Crysis 3 on ultra but i would like to think i could find one that would run Crysis 3 smoothly at low to medium.

right now i am looking at the HP envy Dv6t- 7300 select with the upgraded Graphics card to the Nvidia GT 650m. but after reading some of the reviews i am a little worried about the over all quality, and i would like to find a Asus or MSI but i cannot seem to find any in that price rang that are comparable, though granted i am not as versed in the tech world as i used to be, any and all suggestions on laptops and brands are very appreciated

Lenovo Y400 or Y500 have 650m's in them; the y580 (im using one right now) goes for $850, but has a gtx 660m. win 8 though...

P.S. I don't know about the 400 or 500 but the 580 works great. As for Crysis, 650m should play on low at 50fps (720p), 660m would be playable on med settings.

If you want to go cheap, a lappy with a 7670m or a 630m (540m renamed) could squeeze 30 fps from crysis.

on the lenovo site it says the y500 is base priced at somewhere around $1200 but is on sale for $799, is this always the case or what ? also i have became enthralled with the y500, that is the notebook i want the most atm

no, it is always at 799. just some marketing tricks

Also note that the y500/400 have bad battery life. 3 hrs optimistic
