Solution
its a similar chassis (with improvements ) with the asus n550jv - the only known issues with this laptop is that if you run it under full load on either the CPU or GPU it starts throttling (whilst your on battery life) plug it in to not have this problem or just not run prime95 :L
you can always get a touch screen version of the n550jk as well - should only be about $1100-1200.

The problem with the N550JK it seems is that it's rather heavy at 6lbs. This is kind of surprising as the laptop looks thin and light from the advertisement. This is even heavier than Asus's Republic of Gamers line of laptops.

You might try the asus n56jn. Pretty impressive specs for the price. Brand new nvidia graphics (840), nice i7, and a blue ray player. with you budget you can get it from the factory with more ram and an ssd.
