Looking for a mid-range gaming laptop..

Hey guys!

I am going to college for spring semester and I am unfortunately going to have to leave my desktop behind and bring a laptop to school. I have never used a laptop, so I'm not sure where to start looking. I am an avid gamer, and I play a lot of games. I am looking for a gaming laptop that will be about ~$950.00 with the tax included.

The specs I am looking for:
Minimum 3.0 ghz processing speed (with turbo enabled)
I don't know much about graphics cards, but I want a decent gfx card to be able to run the games I play.
6gb ram

If anyone can help, I would be greatly appreciated! I have done some searching myself, but the laptops I can find always cost a little over $1,000. Just thought I would come here to get another perspective to see if I have missed anything.
