So. my old Alienware M17x R4 seems to be dying. The 7970 is crapping out all the time and the sound card seems to be going insane leaving me with no volume control and everything REALLY LOUD! So, I am looking for a new machine and am torn between an MSI G72 and Alienware 17. Now, the Alienware is an option, but after my issues with this one and the cooling problems that might have lead to the demise of the 7970, I'm not so sure I want to go back to Dell. Anyway, here are the specs.

GT72-2QE Dominator Pro G:
Intel Core i7 5700HQ
256GB SSD + 1 TB 7200 RPM
2 x 8GB DDR3L
1x Nvidia GTX980M 8GB
17.3" 1920*1080 FHD Anti Glare Wide View Angle with NVIDIA® G-SYNC™

Alienware M17:
Intel® Core™ i7-6820HK
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 980M with 4GB GDDR5
16GB Dual Channel DDR4
512GB PCIe SSD + 1TB 7200RPM

Thanks! Any other suggestions as well. The ASUS ROG G751JY is interesting as well and seems quite good. Considering that as well. Is it an issue that the processor seems to be an older model on the ASUS compared to the other two?

Is there a reason your sticking to a laptop form factor? I ask because you get much more for your money if you build it yourself.

If however you are dead set on a laptop I have heard good things about MSI's GE/GT series depending on your budget.
