Looking for an odd cable

Since blue ray players insist on pretty much only having HDMI outs, and perhaps one other, I'm looking for a cable that will work with my situation.

So, my TV in my room is one of my computer monitors. I don't like to leave the desktop on when I'm relaxing or trying to watch a movie when going to sleep because it generates a lot of heat. So normally I'll use my surround sound sound system, which hosts a DVD player. However, I would like to add a blue ray player...

My sound system only has a HDMI out and an AUX in, and my desktop monitor only has HDMI, VGA, dvi, and aux sound in so I can't hook up an HDMI cable into either to pull the audio out and send it back to my surround sound.

So, is there a cable out there which is HDMI, but separates out the audio portion if the signal into dual RCA/component plugs? This would solve my issue easily. I don't want to have to deal with a converter box, since I'll have to concert a ramped down signal back into HDMI/ VGA/dvi to get it to play on my monitor...

Or am I screwed?

There appear to be some devices that claim to do what you're asking. A quick search for "HDMI Audio Splitter" yielded a couple of amazon products that appear to take an HDMI signal in and output an HDMI signal with SPDIF and RCA audio outs as well. I would recommend vigilance in purchasing, since I have no personal experience with any of these products.

You cannot use a cable to extract digital audio from HDMI and convert it to 2 channel analog.
There are HDMI audio extractors that work fine.

You can make sure that your monitor is HDCP compatible by connecting the BD player to the HDMI input directly and if you get a picture you have no problem.

Just wanted to update this in case anyone needs a solid answer:

I got this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KBHX072?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00

It works great! Picture is awesome and the sound is too. There are some audio options on the box, so if you don't hear sound at first, slide the toggle switch around till you get the right setting. It sucks that they make you do this for older tech, but it's a good work around and you never know when this converter box may come in handy in the future.
