Looking for hdmi help

I hope this is the correct catagory.
I have coaxial cable coming into my house. I have a new smart tv that takes hdmi. Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to convert the coaxial into hdmi?
I know nothing about electronics, so assume I am 6 years old.. lol
Any help appreciated.

Do you have cable service or are you planning to get TV channels over the air? What make and model is your TV?

If I assumed you were 6yrs old I'd be banning you for 7 years as your not old enough to use the site for another 7 years.

Do you have a cable TV service or use aerial/antenna? Also whats the make and model of the TV?

It's dish TV and I can get channels, just not in hi def.
The tv is a brand new 50 in. RCA. Not sure on the model, but it does have the thingy to plug in an hdmi cable.

You'll need to contact Dish and get a receiver with HDMI or buy one(will still need to contact Dish to activate it).
