Looking for multi purpose quality laptop

Hi
I'm buying a new laptop for home use but i also want to know if i will be able to play some games on it.
I narrowed it down to:
HP Pavilion 15 - M3J29EA and
ASUS K555LB-XX214LD
They are very similar both with i3 5010U 2,10Ghz dual core cpu, 4GB Ram, 1TB SATA, Free DOS and same resolution and their prices are about the same. Only difference is the gpu where ASUS has GeForce 940M 2GB while HP has GeForce 830M 2GB.
I did some research and it seems to me that 940M is better than 830M, but i don't know how much better. I also need an advice on what brand is better because i will be using this laptop a lot (web, movies, office, possibly gaming) so i want to take more quality one.

The 940m is definitely better than the 830m. So if you want to play games, that is the GPU to get.

That's what I though. Do you have any idea on games I would be able to play or which brand is better?
