Hey all! I have a budget of $2,000 and I'm looking to buying a new laptop. I came across Malibal's from a friends suggestion of them, and they look pretty amazing.

Now my question for you guys is this: since I'm an avid gamer and programmer, and play tons of games ranging from Dota2, League of Legends, Starcraft, World of warcraft, and I also want to use it for watching tv shows, programming, etc what specs/model is best for me? I'm looking for either getting the satori or lotus; sadly the nine is too expensive, haha.

Any and all help is appreciated, if you guys/gals need more information let me know!

I recommend you look at XoticPC which has a wider selection of laptops and more current technology like the 4th generation Haswell CPUs and nVidia's current GTX 700 series GPUs. The difference between Intel's 3rd and 4th generation CPU is relatively small. The average CPU performance increase (assuming same clockspeed) is 5% and it consumes a little less power. The biggest difference is the Intel HD 4600 which is about 25% more powerful than the Intel HD 4000. However, in a laptop with a dedicated graphics card/chip, that is rather pointless.

The link below is the various gaming laptops you can choose to configure. Some have current generation CPU/GPU options and others have previous generation options (like Malibal):

The 17.3" Force / MSI 1757 laptop is pretty light (for a 17.3" laptop) at just under 6lbs, but it may not have the a powerful enough GPU for your needs; GTX 765. It comes with the quad core i7-4700MQ which is a pretty powerful entry level quad core CPU.

The MSI GX70 3BE-007US might be up your alley; base price of $1,300. It comes with a Radeon HD 8970m and an AMD Trinity A10-5750M APU. The A10 is not a very powerful CPU compared to Intel's Ivy Bridge or Haswell, but it gets the job done. The Radeon HD 8970m is basically somewhere in between the GeForce GTX 770m and GTX 780m in general.

Unfortunately, it seems XoticPC is experiencing a problem with their site and is unavailable right now so I need to continue my response at a later point in time.

To continue....

The Sager NP8270 starts off at $1,369 with the Intel i7-4700MQ and the GTX 770m. Unlike the Force / MSI 1757, you can upgrade the graphics card. Upgrading the CPU is also slightly cheaper for this more expensive laptop. For example, upgrading to the i7-4800MQ only cost $185 as opposed to $195 for the Force / MSI 1757. Not a big deal, but at least it is cheaper. Getting back to the graphics card, the Raden HD 8970m is a $175 option, while going for the GTX 780m will cost you $375.

If you are going to buy a laptop from XoticPC, then I recommend at least choosing the $35 option for the IC Diamond thermal compound. A laptop generates a lot of heat, especially a gaming laptop, so better thermal paste to help dissipate heat and lower temps by a few degrees is always good. There is also a $79 option for little copper heatsinks to added to the laptop. In general, I've read that it can lower temps by 3C - 6C depending on the laptop. That is a bit expensive, but reducing heat is always a good idea if you don't think the price is too high.

Now I have some questions

For the xotic laptops, they are extremely cheap for my needs and compared to malibal's, malibal's are too expensive. Is it just b/c of their name or do they actually put in hardware that's putting up the price?

Compared to the one's listed by jaguarskx the one's given by xotic look better and hardware wise seem better with some of them, especially the ones listed.

I'm thinking of going with the saber in the coming months. What would be the most optimal build with it, for my price range. It's been a while since I've started looking for a new laptop and need to make sure I don't mess this one up :p.

Thanks again for all the thought out info jaguarskx!
