I'm looking to upgrade/repair an old N4010 the current specs Pentium P6100, 6gb Ram(Upgraded from 3gb), 250gb HDD. I ordered a i7 640m for the laptop do i need to update the Bios in order for the new i7 640m to work, the current bios is A10, the updated is A13.
And the reason i ask this rather than just updating the bios is the battery is dead not in the term that it lost all it's juice and needs to be charged i mean as in it's completely dead, so the program to update the bios disallows me to update it under 10% battery charge. I tried going in CMD and /forceit to get past that but it didn't work.

Solution
The laptop officially supports
Intel Core i3-330M (2.13 GHz, 4Threads, 3M cache).
Intel Core i3-350M (2.26 GHz, 4Threads, 3M cache).
Intel Core i5-430M (2.26Ghz, 4Threads,3M cache, turbo boost up to 2.53 GHz).
Intel Core i5-520M (2.4GHz, 4 Threads, 3M cache, turbo Boost up to 2.93GHz).
Intel Core i5-540M (2.53Ghz, 4 Thread,3M cache, turbo boost up to 3.06 GHz).

having said that, the A10 BIOS WILL recognize the the i7 640. It's thermally rated the same as the best i5, should be fine.

The i7 640m worked if that's what you wanted to know.

And if your laptop just randomly started being slow, you should run malwarbytes, and some other anti virus softwares.
