Lost landscape image on screen

My laptop screen no longer has a landscape image. Picture stops approx 1 inch from either edge.
How do you reset screen to landscape? Laptop is an HP model 6910. I am using Windows 7.

right click on your desktop but not on an icon. left click on screen resolution. what is listed to the right of "orientation"?

It shows 1024x768 which is identified as default. Only other option is 800x600. I tried it but image is still short on both sides.
