Actually that is exactly how electricity works. Electricity is like water, it will always flow down the path of less resistance. So if an AC adapter allows power it will flow through it to the MAX capacity of the adapter. So if it puts out something like 2 amps but the laptop should only be getting 1.3amps the extra .7amps will STILL be there. Its not that the laptop is requesting the extra power, its that the extra power is going to it because its the easier route for it. So I say to OP confirm that the adapters are the same, because YES too many amps going into the laptop WILL cause problems.
