The 256GB version has SSD issues that are well-known by now. In fact, most tech reviewers out there are pretty consistent in recommending NOT to buy the 256GB version and opt for the 512GB version instead; this is especially important if you plan to use the laptop for more than just occasional web surfing. I'd expect any self-respecting tech news hub to at least mention these issues before tagging the Amazon offer for the 256GB variant as "one of the best laptop deals we've seen all year".
