Hello all,

I just purchased a Sony wega 42in lcd projection T.V. I have my surround
sound speakers setup all except the center channel. If I set the speaker
(small) directly on top of my set, will it cause color warping/rainbows when
the magnet is near? Thanks in advance...

Quality center channel speakers will be shielded against this.

That's where my center speaker sits -- and it's not that small. No
problem -- except that the thin top of the set makes it sit tilted weirdly.
I think such speakers are purposely made not to cause magnet problems.
Anyway, isn't that a CRT problem, where an electronic beam is directed by
magnets? I doubt that even applies to LCD projectors, but I don't know for
sure.

Thanks everyone for your help, I have it set with no problems.

You will probably have a problem with the lamp and ballast before you have
any indication of magnetic interaction. Cheers

There is absolutely no ill effects from placing the center spkr on the
TV....the color warpage you are refering to applys ONLY to conventional
glass CRTs that have a shadow mask. DLP/LCD projos do not use this.

All CRT's that use electron gun technology. Projection tv tubes don't have
shadow masks but convergence can be changed by very small magnetic fields
close to one of the tubes (particularly the neck). You are right, the LCD
projection can not be affected by magnetic fields.
