hey all,

I was wondering if you could use the medusa 5.1 without the amp (and if you could, how it performs under those conditions). Does anyone know?

I dont think it would work well. and you would have no easy way to control the valume, but as far as i can tell that would be your only problem. trouble controlling the valume. It might not even be able to get loud enough and the bass might be weak. BUT I dont know that for sure its just what i would assume. I'm looking for some 5.1 headphones but i want a digital input do you know of any?

There's the medusa 5.1 USB version, but THG didn't speak well of it...

If you really, really need to go without the amp, or don't have a 5.1 soundcard, then they're the best you'll get. Ideally of course the wired version is better.

Does anyone know the official/technical name for the cable that converts the Medusa cable to a regular headphone jack? It's called "Cable D" in the manual.

Err, I canne think of the name... it's the one that comes in its own plastic bag within the box, and has a very short wire connecting the fat (err, yes, technical names are escaping me this morning) wire to the headphone plug. Is it missing, or do you just want the technical name for reference (at which point I'm kind of useless  )

Well my friend got screwed around a bit by Medusa. And ended up with a pair of headphones and nothing else. No amp, cables. Anyway he gave the headphones to me and now I'm trying to find an adapter that'll let me use them.

I think I've figured out that the connector is a 9 pin mini-DIN. Which seems to be a pretty rare connection. Radioshack doesn't have them. So I'll try and find some audio specialty stores...Or get them online

Hi Shim

Your friend did not get 'screwed around' as you quote.

Tell the whole story to give it a true reflection..

Lives in Hawaii, headset malfunctioned. We asked for just the headset back but customer sent everything. Support in Arizona then by mistake only returned what was listed on the database, the headset.

We offered to send the missing pieces but your freind refused instead insisting that he had been messed around enough and wanted a full refund instead. We granted this and to save him money sending the unwanted headset back from Hawaii we instructed him to stick it in the bin and gave him a FULL refund including the original International Shipping Fees.

We then received news from another re-seller here in the UK that this customer after receiving a full refund was trying to find a cable so that he could get the headsaet to work.

WHAT A CHEEK !!!

I emailed him and asked that as he quite clearly still wanted to use the headset, he could return the refund and we would send out the set to him again totally at our cost. I received a reply that said "Ok no problem I will throw it away now". Then he gives it to you and you now try to buy the cable ??

If you want the cable so badly I will send you one and only charge you the price of 1 x headset set minus the amplifier which is what you are looking to set up. $40 and it is yours.

Regards

Matt
