Merge an Incoming Skype Call with the Existing One

While using Skype for voice calls, if you are already engaged with someone on voice, and another friend who is added in your Skype contact list initiates a voice call with you, you receive an incoming call notification. At this point, you can either decline the new incoming call or accept it to talk to the person.

If you decline any new incoming call while you are already in a voice call session, the new call gets terminated, and you can continue communicating with the person who is at the current call. On the other hand, if you receive the new incoming call, the existing call automatically goes on hold.

In order to avoid this interruption, Skype allows you to merge any new incoming call with the existing one. When you merge a new call with the existing call session, the call automatically gets converted into a voice conference call, and allows you to communicate with all of the participants.

Note: You can merge a new incoming voice call with an existing one only if you are using Skype on your laptop/desktop computer. This feature is not supported by Android or iOS smartphones.

Here’s how you can merge a new incoming Skype call with an existing one:

■Log on your computer system.
■On the Sign in window, login either using your Microsoft account or your Skype Name by clicking either of the available buttons.



■Assuming that you are logging in with your Skype account, provide your credentials in the appropriate fields, and click the Sign in button.



■Assuming that you are already in a call session with your friend and a new incoming call comes up, click the Add to group call button to add the calling person to the existing call.
