messages failed error

I can not send out messages on my galaxy 4 smartphone it stopped working yesterday. When I try to send out a message it looks like it's going to send and then it comes up with the error that says failed. When I go in and look at the status it said it is disconnected and I don't know what that means cuz everything else looks like its fine.

Disconnected means you are getting no network signal, so you are either in a "dead spot" or phone just needs turning off completely and on again. Make sure you power it off completely, or pull the battery then put it back (if that's possible).
