Microsoft acct. security confusion

Today, I have had warning flags on three startup telling bme that my MS Acct. then my Outlook acct. then Skype acct are out of date and require immediate attention.
Having gone to the MS 'attention' page it presents me with emails that I used and closed years ago. Supposedly if I use thjese emails I will get a code to resolove everything.
I have new accounts with new email addresses and all has been well up until now. why is MS suddenly dragging up the past and is this a common practice? Any help appreciated. Thanks

Malware scam. Do Not go to any page that directs you to give up anything because of an "out of date" Microsoft program.
