1. What is your budget?
I would like to know what's the least amount of money I have to spend to find a laptop that's capable of the below requirements.
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
Not too picky as I can attach it to an external monitor when needed or at home, but when I'm out and about smaller is better imo.
3. What screen resolution do you want?
Again not a huge deciding factor. Am comfortable with a 1980 x 1250 as that is what I have at home.
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
No
5. How much battery life do you need?
Prefer at least a solid hour of heavy use or the ability to change out the battery.
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
The usual crack in the form of MW3 and WoW. Usually run them on low to medium for fps and latency reasons.
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
This is the biggest requirement. I want a laptop that is capable of comfortably using and rendering in ZBrush, Maya, Blender, Photoshop, etc.
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
To reduce cost and for practical purposes I think I need to use an external HD?

I have bought computers from all three vendors above, and was the happiest with the falcon NW purchase however I don't want to have to sell my kidney to get this laptop.

Keeping anything over 3 years seem impossible to me.
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Can be pretty basic.
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I like ASUS since they've produced quality motherboards, and later quality products. As far as the laptop world goes, I have no idea on quality brands. I've used BFG tech video cards because I loved the lifetime RMA, but since they've gone out of business I'm lost on video card brands. I've also used GeForce cards my whole life too, but I am open to AMD/Radeon products if it's better.

Cost is obviously an issue because I have a kid to save for college for, but on the realistic side I do realize I'll have to spend more than $500, but like everyone I want something for the cheapest I can get it.
