Discussion Mirroring computer to TV

I have mirrored my computer to my old TV for years; I would simply change inputs, and the computer screen is mirrored on the TV screen.
I just purchased a new TV, and now when changing input to view the computer, I get the computer screen saver only.
It mirrors the computer screen saver, but not what is on the computer screen. If I minimize the screen to show just screen saver, that is what I see on the TV
I didn't change anything, just plugged the HDMI cable into the new TV.
I spend many hours on this, I'm out of ideas, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you..!

OK, after many more hours, I have discovered the problem to be in setting up the system's display. It would normally show the display as 1/2, meaning both are displayed in mirror fashion. They can be changed to 1 or 2 to give the option of only using one screen.
Unfortunately, mine displays 1 or 2, not 1/2, so I have either one or the other, not both together. I have tried everything to get the display to read 1/2, with no success, so if anyone has an answer, I would love to hear it. TY.
