Does anyone have experience or suggestions repairing this 55" Mitsubishi
projection TV? Mine is 3 years old and suddenly, it turns itself off after
a couple of minutes. Nothing seems like it's overheating or acting strange.
Has someone come across a similar problem?

Thanks,

It is probably the output power module. Same problem I had with my
55511......

Send me an email if you need the service manuals.

Hi there,

I could definitely use the service manual for my TV and maybe a
recommendation as to how to determine if the "output power module" is
definitely not working properly and a source of where to get a new one.
Last night I turned the TV on and it went off in 1 minute, then I turned it
on and it was ok for the rest of the night.

Thanks for helping me....
what is your email?
I tried 'alpertl@xxgmail.com' and it bounced back to me.

I work on these sets all the time.

Output power module is very vauge. A decent tech would troubleshoot the
problem to the component level in this set. First thing is to pull the
shutdown diagnostic code. Hold device and enter buttons simultaneously for
5 sec after the next shutdown and count the two digit sequence of the
flashing LED. Observe any patterns to the shutdown in terms of how long the
set runs, signal, etc.

Intermittent problems can be tricky to solve, but it could be cheap in terms
of parts if you don't jump to changing boards right away.

Before you spend any money, replace the batteries in the remote
if they are not new. Old batteries can cause problems like this.

Oops, I said device and enter, it should be device (input) and menu buttons
to pull the codes.

Oh, remove the "xx"...

The tech that fixed mine (warranty) said it is a common problem in these.
Same behavior as mine. You should be able to find one, as they usually get
reconditioned. Tech said they were not that hard to fix if you know your
way around a soldering iron.

You called it right on mine, Leonard. Since it was under warranty, it was
replaced. The tech said he wasn't allowed to fix it at the component level
due to the warranty service. Warranty was held by the local shop I bought
it at, not a national one (Anderson TV, No. Cal).

Was the repair something the tech was able to do in the home? My Mits is
doing the same thing, but only when being driven with Y/Pr/Pb signal. With
a std composite input it's fine. Apparently Y/Pr/Pb causes something in
the set to draw more current.

Thx.

Yes, he did mention that it could be repaired without much difficulty.

ok, so it is holding down the "menu" and "input" (up or down?)
buttons....this is right after turning the TV on the next time or is it
while the TV is off? Where is the LED I'm looking for to flash....is it the
power LED on the front of the TV?
