Mod mic Question

I bought the HyperX Clouds and are liking them so far.

However the mic that came with the Clouds aren't that good. I did some looking around and found that the modmic 4.0 is far and away the best add on mic. Would I need to buy the version that comes with a mute button or would the controller that came with the Hyperx Clouds work with the mic provided I connect the modmic directly into the headset and have all that wire hanging on my ear

the modmic is one of the better add-on mics yes though desktop mics are still better yet.

the mute should be a simple toggle switch on/off connected/disconnected so it should work with your headsets inline provided you connected through the mic input jack on the headset.

you're still going to have much cable hanging on your ear unless you shortened the cable.

another option would be getting a replacement mic from say the creative fatality or turtle beach headsets and using that instead. there are a few boom mics of similar style which will pop right in without that cable mess (how well they compare to the modmic, i dont know)

So how did it work in the end? Does it work by just pluggin it directly into your headset?
