Question Monitor cuts out when streaming video

I have a Lenovo E470 laptop:
Intel i7-7500U
16GB of RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 940MX 2GB

Had this issue for about 18 months now. The monitor I have (AOC Q3279VWFD8) cuts out when I start a video on Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime (on Chrome) . Doesn't happen with YouTube or BBC iPlayer.
When it cuts out, the computer still thinks that it is connected so it's still on extended mode.
The connection doesn't fix itself either. I need to manually disconnect then connect the HDMI cable in order to get it back (after closing the offending tabs).
Seems to be a problem with my computer rather than the monitor. I have tried so many things: reinstalling drivers, CPU tests, disabling the graphics cards individually to see if one of them were at fault but I still can't get it to work.
Would really appreciate any help on this.
Thank you!

Update: Seems to work better (cuts out less frequent) when I change the refresh rate to 60Hz from 75Hz in the Intel HD graphics control panel
