Monitor sound goes to laptop

I have my laptop hooked up to my monitor (asus mg248qe) with only the monitor screen turned on. I have this problem that occurs when i open this game. When i open it, all of the sound on my system goes to my laptop speakers for a few seconds. After those few seconds, everything is back to normal, except the game sound, which is supposed to be in my headset connected to the monitor. Thanks in advance for helping.

What happens if you connect the headset to the laptop instead of the monitor? That would be the preferred way to do things.
