hi, I am looking to know if there is a way to fix a cracked motherboard it cracked on the side where the DC jack is, as in it completely snapped away from the rest of the motherboard. Is there a fix to that? I just bought the notebook :(

Solution
had a look at that board--yeah can see the bit you mean--the design of the board makes that bit inherently weak

could replace the whole board but looking at £100 for a used one

a better bet would be try to find one on ebay where they have smashed the screen and use that as a donor

Has happened to me with a cheap laptop too lol. It was left on a table with half of it hanging off the edge, I tripped, fell on it, and it bent near the middle. Yeah stuff like this can happen in ways you least expect.

If the power jack snapped away, that may be fixable depending on where it broke. People replace those jacks all the time in laptops. Bring it to a repair shop and have them look. If the actual motherboard is cracked, no way to fix it.

Oh cause I did it on purpose... right... thanks for nothing... I'm not planning on fixing it myself... I just asked if it has a fix cause I plan to take it somewhere and I dont want to be bullshitted or waste my time... so much for that... so much for help.

actually, the charger was plugged in and the cord got tangled with another one... it was a 50 cm fall but it fell straight on the charger plug and apparently the DC jack was on a tip which snapped off from the rest of the motherboard...

guess you were really unlucky such a short drop normally you wouldnt get that

if its snapped the piece of the board off you are out of luck

if just the jack came off--as lot of them arent soldered now then thats different

I have seen youtube videos putting those boards back together... but I wanted to know specifically on the tip o the DC Jack the part of the board it connects to is like a small piece that sticks out, I guess that is what made it easy to snap... so, this is for sure? no way to fix that?

Its a samsung NP550P5C. the part where the DC jack goes is just a tiny piece coming out of the rest of the motherboard... I guess that is why it snapped with such a small fall...

i would guess because its the part where the power jack is even if you could some how glue it back on which in itself is pretty

unlikely there will be traces that have been snapped and chances of rejoining those is even lower
