Question Mounting Help

I put a golf simulator in my garage and took my brothers old JVC LT-37x887. It is about 14 years old. I just wanted to have the baseball game on in the background as I played.

Anyway I purchased a mount kit but none of the screws fit. The base of the tv stand had 6 screws and those screws fit the holes where I needed to mount the arms to the back of the tv. They seem strong enough but kinda short. I'd imagine that only 4 or 5 mm actually went into the back of the TV. Again seems strong but I can't seem to sleep at night I'm so worried. It's been up for two days now.

Do you think it's ok? Were those screws meant for this? Seems odd they would fit but not work.

I would think a quick trip to a local hardware store could resolve this matter quickly and inexpensively. Take one of the short screws to ensure you get the right diameter and just get some longer ones.
