I just hooked up a dvd player with regular AV cables. I have noticed that the movie is kind of too big for the screen. Im guessing this is a resolution problem. I am thinking that Component cables are in order to have the right resoultion. Will getting component cables make the resolution better or will it only make the picture clearer?

Regular AV cables as in one cable for the video and two for the left/right sound? That is the worst quality you can get.

If you have a component connection on both devices, use that.

You should also check the TV settings and the DVD player, it could be set to zoom the picture.
