Moving Samsung S3 from contract to pre-paid

I have a Samsung S3 that was on a contract plan. I have since cancelled the post paid plan. Now I would like to use my Samsung on a prepaid plan. Is that possible? I am trying avoid buy another if I can help it.

If your phone is still SIM-locked to your previous provider, you'll need to stay with them. You should be able to put it on one of their pre-paid plans, though.

If it's not SIM-locked, you can go to any provider and pick up a SIM pack.
