MP3 Player amplification?

Hello, I need to know if one can take the output of an MP3 player (say
5 or 10mw) to the input of a car amplifier (high or low level?)and get
an ok sound? Is it fesible...? i am green at this stuff. I have a
motorcycle that I would like to mount a car amplifier in the trunk (yes
it has a trunk cause it is a Honda pc800) and be able to plug in my mp3
player up near the front of the bike so I could then remove the MP3
player when i leave the bike. This would really be nice since the bike
radios are too expensive and i really don't want to use the headphones
from the MP3 due to safety issues. Any help would be great cause I
don't want to buy the amplifier if it would not work.....thanks in
advance.

Wow...thank you very much.....You have just convinced me to drop it and
go with the canal phones. You brought up so many good points and your
experience was great. Thanks again for all your time in replying!!!!
