MPEG4?

I have a digital camera which I record video footage on, when I copy these files to my PC they are in MPEG4 format which play fine using Quicktime. I would like to put these files on a DVD to give to friends and family but none of their dvd players are MPEG4 compatible so therefore won't read the disc. What is the quickest/easiest/cheapest way of converting these files into a common format?
