MSI GT72S 6QE or Alienware 17 R3

Hi,

I have the choice of an Alienware 17 R3 with GTX 970M GPU and 6700HQ CPU (16GB RAM) or an MSI GT72S 6QE with GTX 980M GPU and 6700HQ CPU (16GB RAM).

Both have 128GB SSDs.

I have to buy either of the listed models as the store I work at offers 12% discount to me and only stocks the variants listed.

Also, I couldn't care less if Alienware is 'totes for NOOBZ', I'm looking for impartial advice here (which is surprisingly hard to find!).

The issue is the price difference here is about £350 for me (about $470) so isn't insignificant and the only benefit of the more pricey MSI is the GTX 980M.

Help!!!!???? The decision is so hard to make! Thanks for your help.

i don't think performance difference b/w 980M and 970M is big enough to justify additional $470 so i'd choose Alienware in this particular case.

Thanks for getting back to me, I decided to get the more expensive version as it has to last me for a few years so the little extra oomph might be useful later. The MSI also has G-Sync and appears to keep a little cooler which is important for me due to my need for longevity.
