I have the exact laptop specified in the title and was wondering about the temps, I can hit around 86 I believe. It has the desktop version GTX 980 in it which is a beast and is overclockable. I was just wondering if 86C is normal without turbo on I'll have to write down the more accurate temperatures from a few games tonight I don't think it goes above 87C with the Turbo Fan control off. Also is it safe to game with that off at that temperature or will I need to keep the turbo fan on.

It's warm but still within safe limits. You could try to overclock it a bit to get better performance but personally I'd try to keep it under 90C and would create a custom fan profile through MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision to keep the fan speeds up during gaming.

I heard it can go to 98C before it throttles, I thought about getting a fan software I didn't know afterburner which came on my computer was able to do that.

Yes, you should be able to select your 980 and then create a custom profile. I don't remember the exact steps as it's been quite awhile since I've used it.
