Multiple Monitor Sound Issue

Okay I have multiple monitors that are plugged into my graphics card. 1 of the monitors is HDMI. the other is a tv which uses a displayport to hdmi active adapter.

I do this because I like to play games on my tv but use my computer for work. This hasn't been an issue but today when I try to do it, there's no sound on my TV. (there has been sound previous times so I know it works)My TV is set up as my preferred display, which duplicates my main desktop screen. I go to my sound options and set the HDMI device as the default device but there's no sound.

My guess is that it is outputting the sound to the HDMI cable of my main desktop monitor(which has no speaker) rather than the HDMI cable of my TV even though it is selected as the preferred. So I guess my question is, do you think this is also the issue and if so is there a way to change which HDMI im outputting the audio to.

But you said, your TV is connected with an DP-to-HDMI-cable? The PC stills sees that as a DP-connection, so the standard output device should be set to DP, not HDMI!?

I have tried every sound option I have, and to make it work previously I used the HDMI.

And the audio input on the TV is set to the hdmi port as well?

Yes. I tested it by putting my xbox on the tv, which is hdmi. it output no problem
