multiple "smart" video & audio device connection questions

Here are the devices I'm trying to get to play well together.
Cable Box
Yamaha Home Theater Receiver
Sony Blu-Ray Player
Samsung UHDTV

Do I connect HDMI cables from the cable box and Blu-Ray player to the Receiver then out of the receiver to the TV, or do I wire the cable box and Blu-Ray player directly to the TV and connect back to the Receiver in order to get sound through the stereo?

Also, which in/out ports should I use on the TV and receiver?

Connect all media devices (cable box, DVD player) to the receiver, use the TV as video monitor only.
Generally - connect using HDMI cables. Cable box -> receiver (HDMI); DVD -> receiver (HDMI); receiver out -> TV (HDMI)
