my actual phone will not work

When I press the call button on my phone it just flash's and goes back to the home screen. Same for text messages. Android Kyocera

Did you try simply rebooting it? If you did, you can try a factory reset (will wipe the phone and set it to factory defaults, anything stored in local memory will be deleted).
