My aspire 4720 acer laptop won\'t start up or stay on

turn my laptop on, light shows green then little green light blinks ,then turns off by itself, wont go anywhere but black screen as if its not even turned on? help please what could this be

Are you sure its shutting off? See if the fan is running since it could be a failed gpu. Or if it is shutting off most likely due to over heating from a clogged heat sink or a loose heat sink. But it could be a bad backlight/inverter if its on and you can see a picture slightly in a bright room
