My camera wont power up when i insert my 4gb sd card

when i insert my 4gb sd card into my camera the camera fails to power up whats wrong?

If it's an older model it may not recognise such a large memory. Suggest you check with a dealer or read the manual (can be downloaded from manufacturer's website usually).
