Hey Guys,

So my Acer Aspire V3-571G which is just under a year old has been having a problem the last month or so when my computer will just freeze and all my programs will be "not responding" for about 2-3 minutes. Sometimes it will get back to normal for a bit but then it will normally start freezing up again. This will repeat until I either click something or it freezes again and then my computer will either reset itself or will just go to a black screen and nothing will happen until I force shut down. Every so often I'll also get a blue screen but I got this error message once:

Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. And then there's this other info and then it has status: 0xc000000e9 and that an unexpected I/O error has occurred. I think this whole problem might have something to do with a new logitech headset that I started using a month ago because all of these problems only started after I used it.

Please help! This is getting really frustrating having to wait like 10 minutes just to send an email only for my computer to restart or just turn into a black screen.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: These are the specs of my computer:
Intel i7-3610QM (2.3Ghz) Processor
8GB DDR3 ram
750GB HDD
NVIDIA Geforce GT 640M
Running Windows 7 Home Premium

Hi AranC,

Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue occurred?

Method 1:
You may disconnect all the external devices and check if you are able to boot in normal mode or safe mode.

Start your computer in safe mode
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Method 2:
If you cannot perform startup repair then you may try using the Last known good configuration. It is a Windows startup option that uses the most recent system settings that worked correctly. Every time you turn your computer off and Windows shuts down successfully, important system settings are saved in the registry. So it starts Windows with the last registry and driver configuration that worked successfully.
You may...

Hi Brett!

Okay! This might sound dumb, but how exactly would I do that? I'm not the most tech savvy guy out. Once when it restarted my computer did one of those disk check scans and it seemed to be fine. Or is that something entirely different?

Also, in the time it's taken me to send this reply my computer has restarted twice. Once because I clicked the windows button in the bottom left hand corner and everything froze up. The other happened as I was typing and an error came up but I couldn't quite see what it said in enough time.

Thanks!

Brett,

I've just downloaded the Hiren's Boot CD and have booted up using the CD but I can't seem to find the full hard drive test? I can see there are a lot of Hard disk tools but I'm not exactly sure which one I should use. Do you know which tool I should use to help fix the hard drive?

Thanks
