my contacts got deleted

I turn off my phone for a few hours and then when I turned it back on, most of my contacts got deleted! Any help guys?

Were your contacts synced to anything, like your Google account for instance? Or possibly backed up on your SIM card, if you have one? That would make recovery much easier.
