my headphones mic does not work

so i have a pair of turtle beaches earforce recon 50x and there is a detachable mic on it so whenever i plug my headphones into my pc the mic isn't recognized even when plugged up into the headset

usb headphones? 3.5mm x 2? single 3.5mm? you need to specify how it connects to pc.

3.5mm should be two for pc use (one mic one headphones) if you're using analog.

the head set is a 3.5 mm that connects to the pc also is the detachable mic which connects into the headset

i saw that page but it doesnt give what connector it uses.

if it connects up to console it has a single plug (4pole 3.5mm) which will NOT work with pc without adapter. pc uses two (3pole 3.5mm) cables - one for audio and one for mic. they do make 4pole to 2x 3pole adapters (phone headset to pc adapers they are often called) though your headset may have come with one of those.

if you are using said adapter, you did not list that info...

be sure to check your default recording device in windows as well in case it is not selected right.

My default windows audio is realtek HD audio and i did not receive a cable to connect to the pc so are you saying i will need a splitter cable for my mic to work for my pc because if so i can

Oh ok i see because the detachable mic is a 3 pole plug while the headset is 4 pole ok so all i would need is an adapter Thank you and would you be kind enough to link an adapter that is in decent price range thx
