my laptop battery goes from 55% to 6% in just one minute...what could be the problem

Solution
Likely a calibration problem. Look up your laptop and see if it has a method for resetting the capacity of the battery.

In some cases that just means disabling all automatic shutdown and power saving features and letting the battery reach zero. Then you recharge the laptop to full and the battery monitoring system will store that as full capacity. Then your measurement will at least be correct.

The battery could still need replacing though.

Hopefully Eximo's advice will do the trick, but if not then the battery has reached the end of it's useful life since it can no longer hold a charge --- this is typical sign that it needs replacing.

Battery's inability to hold a charge often occurs after using laptop on mains power for long or frequent periods without removing the battery (when it's around 85-90% charged) until you need it.
