Question My laptop doesn't turn on after applying thermal paste.

I opened my laptop and removed heatsink from the top of cpu. And then i wiped off the old paste from cpu and heatsink and applied the new one but i applied it too much but there was no wire or terminal nearby, all the sides of processor were covered with plastic type material so there should be no issue of short circuit. I assembled it back and tried to boot it but it does nothing as if it is not connected to power source. BTW i should mention here that i have no battery, i run it without battery and the battery was removable.
Please someone tell me what should i do or my sister would kill me!

One would suspect that somewhere in your disassembly/reassembly, something got disconnected.
