My laptop freezes and makes a creaking noise everytime i use a cd rom reader to install games in it

So here's the thing:

When I uninstalled a game in my laptop(the game is skyrim) and when i tried to install it again using a cd rom reader, my laptop began to make a creaking noise and it freezes in the middle of the installation process, which has never happened before. So I force shutdown my laptop and tried to install the game again but everytime the same thing is happening: the creaking noise and the freezing of the laptop. But here's the strange thing: it only happens when i'm installing the game with the cd rom reader, every other thing besides installing, the laptop works just fine. This is the first that this happened so i'm very confused.

My laptop is an ASUS
Processor: Genuine Intel(R) CPU
RAM: 4.00 GB
System type: 64-bit operating sytem
Windows 7 Home Premium

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like either the CD is scratched or something wrong with the optical.
